Ceramics-To-Wear

And now for something [not so] completely different…

Anyone who has attended one of my workshop lectures over the years has heard me say that if I had walked into the metalsmithing room first, I may have made jewelry instead of pots. I do however think clay is my ideal material, and because of timing and circumstances in the last month I have delved into “wearable ceramics”. These new forms, this new medium, isn’t completely out of left field.  These focal pendants relate to the tile forms and how I think of them as ceramic collage, as well as the wire flower bricks I developed.  So if you ever thought, “Gee, I like her work, but I’d rather wear it than drink from it,” now is your chance: www.KiefferDesign.etsy.com.

Thank you to Cora of Ophelia Miller Boutique for featuring my pendants and Design store on her blog here!

    I love your jewelry. Wearable ceramics is a fabulous idea. I wish you would have a workshop in New Orleans.

    These pendants look like precious potsherds from your tiles and other ceramic art and they are so elegant at the same time. Lovely.

    These are beautiful! Some of my favorite ceramic pendants I’ve seen :) If I wasn’t a starving artist right now I’d buy one… but if I know anyone who’s shopping for jewelry I’ll send them your way!

    This is exciting to see Kristen! I never knew that about you, with the metalsmithing.
    {ps. I like the mini ones for myself and it was fun to see your hand in the photos.}

    Love the asymetrical shapes and it’s fun to see your patterns and colors on a piece of jewelry.
